we must cooperate when God uses relationships to mold us
Initially Saul showed favor on David because:
- David's talent began to show after killing Goliath
- David's spiritual insight
- David's loyalty
The above 3 helps David to flourish.
David seems to enable people around him to flourish no matter where he goes, and across different realms, material relational and spiritual.
- relationship to Saul
Use Saul to break / crush David, so he can be purified. This is the "purifying love of God, through His cleansing water".

- Johnathan defends David
- Listen: Provide freedom to express without condemning you. They cry together embracing each other
- Build up David: Encouraging David
